GOTHIC CANDLESTICK

Balanced proportions
Stepped tripot, six sided stem, divided with three knots, becoming slimmer upwards, topped by a candlepin. A lot of attention has been given to the balanced proportions of this heavy wrought iron object.
Function
Movable light in a church, public space or a castle. The church of St. Leonardus in Zoutleeuw (near Brussels), has contained its medieval treasures which survived the 16th century iconoclasm of the Reformation. There one can still see four of these rare candlesticks standing in the choir. By occasions used in different formation to light the events in the church.
